Two night stay - Rating 4/5
The room and bathroom was very clean with lvoley fresh linen and towels and toiletries. My room was cold the first night as no heating on but the second night the heating was on and it was really warm. The breakfast catered for my gluten free diet and the only thing missing was no marmalade or honey for toast. There was a lovely sitting area where one could have a drink and meal in the evening and of course spectacular views from here, the dining room and bedrooms.Everyone was very exceptionally friendly and welcoming and I would certainly stay there again.

First of all that are not many hotels in this area and we also needed the one where we can stay with our two dogs. The interiors of the hotel taking you back to the 70's and definitely require serious renovation. At the same time staff was very polite and helpful and when we went to the restaurant food was very good. And another positive moment was that we were not charged for the dogs. Which wasreally nice. So all in all the hotel should be considered of 1-2 nights stay if you are in the area.

The staff were very friendly, the room was warm , the beer selection good and the food was hearty. One criticism concerns the owner; a charmless surly man who seems to resent guests. In response to a simple question I just got a grunt. I don’t think being a hotelier is his vocation.

We stayed at Kinlochbervie Hotel in early April, with our daughter-in-law and two little granddaughters. We found the hotel on the internet and what a find! It was like staying with family. We were given the warmest of welcomes, including from Merlin, Leona’s beautiful, friendly, grey cat - we all love cats, especially grey ones and Merlin was particularly affectionate. The location of the hotel is absolutely stunning, looking out over the sea and the little settlement. We were privileged to watch wild geese from our double aspect room. The food in the restaurant was lovely. Simple pub grub with some delicious twists, like the venison casserole. Just what was needed after a day clambering around the magnificent beaches in the area. We were set up for the day by the generous breakfasts, too,We felt really comfortable sitting in the bar at the end of the day on comfy sofas gazing at the view. This hotel was a real find and we will definitely return. Thank you, Leona and staff.

Peaceful - Will Return - Rating 4/5
I will start with the negative points that I wish to share.I was not aware the bath towels would not be changed for a guest staying more than one night, luckily the bar heater in the bathroom the dried towels out by morning.Secondly, despite a very good breakfast with plenty of variety, it was instant coffee in the shared coffee pot,I would have expected a better quality coffee, but I understand the main coffee machine was broken.Thirdly, I'm unsure if it was the same chef on both nightsof my stay, but the first night meal was diappointing.I opted for venison which was crammed with sliced carrots in the gravy of the dish, but chef had also used sliced carrots as accompanying veg.I would have looked for a green veg or a different meal had I known. As I say the breakfast was very good, but I suspected much of it was cooked in a microwave, which is not very good.Tomatoes, tattie scones and scrambled egg have an altered taste as a result. On the plus side everyone was friendly and helpful. The room was a good size and well priced, there was ample hot water.I would look to return, as the location is ideal.I enjoyed my stay nevertheless.
Response
Good afternoon,Thank you for your review. But I would like to answer a few of your negative points. In your room there is a printed sheet that explains about towels, bins ect if you wish them changed , empted or any other servicing to let reception know and it will be done. The coffee at breakfast is Kenco medium roast fillter coffee not instant, we always put out more than one veg with evening meals. Also we do not use a microwave for breakfast Tomatoes are oven baked Tattie Scones are grilled in butter and the scrambles egg is done in a pan with butter & milk. I am happy to know you found the staff friendly. Sorry for any inconvenience caused to you during your stay.

Good value for money - Rating 4/5
A nice big bedroom with a great view looking out west to the Atlantic. The water wasn't as hot as I would have liked. The couple who ran it were polite and pleasant. The breakfast was great. The bar was lively with a pool table. The suppers were fine (the green beans could have been cooked for a little longer! The westerly winds coming in off the Atlantic were very strong and really shook the windows but they were double-glazed so it was fine but the effect was some wind noise in the bedroom. Overall very good value for money.

Excellent all round!- Rating 5/5
Cannot fault this place. What lovely, friendly, welcoming helpful staff. Leona is a star and gave me some really good tips re completing the Cape Wrath Trail. Very helpful by keeping hold of a food package I no longer needed for my onward journey so I could collect on my way back. The room was amazing.. lovely panoramic views of coast and harbour, clean and comfortable. Bar food was delicious . (Haddock and chips) full cooked breakfast in the morning was just what I needed. Nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommend - one of the nicest hotels I’ve stayed at. Thank you so much.

Hidden gem.- Rating 5/5
Hidden gem, is a rarely used term these days. But it's exactly the right term for the Kinlochbervie Hotel. Everything from the location, room, wonderful staff. I booked room 5, as its large recommended for families and those with dogs (me). Well I wasn't disappointed it was huge, then still getting over that, I open the ensuite door and find a huge bathroom, I've stayed in hotel rooms smaller than this bathroom. Lovely over bath shower, complete with rainfall shower head, gotta get myself one of those. Now the staff was outstanding, nothing was too much trouble, friendly, chatty. Highly recommend this hotel. I've forgotten to mention the views from the bar/restaurant, nearly forgot lovely breakfast too.

Lovely place with wonderful people- Rating 5/5
This is my 3rd time staying here. I live in the San Francisco Bay Area and we do have great scenery. But! I just love Scotland and especially the North West Highland. Kinlochbervie is beautiful location and the hotel just makes it perfect. The rooms are comfortable and unpretentious. The people are kind and friendly. One time I had a flat tire and the owner of the place took me to the garage to pick up my car. Yes! They are wonderful people.

Fantastic older style hotel with fabulous service and food - Rating 5/5
This is a hotel which focusses on good service, clean and neat facilities and delicious food - all the 'old time' values which is so often missing from newer accommodation styles. We were greeted and checked in by a smiling owner, who helped us with breakfast ordering and booked us in for dinner that night. The room was huge, with a (slightly dated) but spotlessly clean ensuite bathroom. The bed was fairly hard (which is to my taste but may not suit some) and our room was on the first floor which wasnt a problem for us but may be for anyone with mobility problems (let them know when you book your room and I am sure they would try to accommodate your needs)Dinner in the evening was fantastic, one of the best meals we have had in the UK and very reasonably priced. Staff were friendly and service quick. Breakfast the next morning was equally as efficient, a huge meal and cooked to perfectionI would have no hesitation in recommending this place - but book early as it was busy

Kinlochbervie hotel walking group stay - Rating 4/5
Our walking Club stayed here in 2019, returning again May 2023.Once again we were well catered for, rooms are comfortable, clean and quite spacious.Breakfast was all you could possibly need for a good day in the hills and dinner at the restaurant was varied each night, and delicious.Staff helpful and friendly Room rates were very attractive for a west coast hotel. The hotel has had some random refurbishment since 2019, which has helped, but it still needs alot more to bring it up to modern standards. For us the internet wa snot working for nearly 48 hours (but 4G was good for some) and the room plumbing is old and not entirely reliable.I'd go back tomorrow but it would be nice to see some further improvements even with an associated slight rise in room rates.

Kinlochbervie Hotel has the most wonderful views for most of its rooms, and the main lounge/diningroom is light and airy with views over the loch/sea/harbour, and it is a pleasure to spend time in the room. The food was good, and the hotel has a good collection of whiskies, which are sold at a reasonable price. The hotel also has a separate public bar for people who want a game of pool or darts, or a more lively atmosphere.

We were happy with the location on our way around the NC500. Communication from the hotel was good with confirmation of evening meal times on our arrival day. Very basic decor but OK, the bathroom of room 6 was dreadfully let down by the state of the bath & showerv& a dirty towel left on the rail. We did speak to the landlady about this as we checked out. Good choice of breakfast, good night's sleep & felt to feel welcome particularly as we came from the same part of the cpuntry.

Happy and relaxed - Rating 4/5
Kinlochbervie Hotel is a happy, relaxed place with friendly staff, comfort and good service indoors and easy parking plus fabulous views outdoors.I’d rate it 8/10, the two lost points because1. Room 4 (and possibly other rooms nearby) suffers from a very loud intermittent crash every time neighbouring guests go through the adjacent fire door and2. The overwhelming artificial sweetish smell from chemical cleaning sprays that permeates the whole building.

Comfortable hotel, friendly staff, excellent value! - Rating 5/5
Out of the main tourist season it can be hard to find somewhere good to stay in the northern highlands, but the Kinlochbervie Hotel is a great place for a winter break. Outside the hotel there is a large parking area. All the staff were friendly and communicative. The room was spacious and warm, with panoramic views towards the harbour. It was good to be able to order exactly what we wanted from the breakfast menu (all included within the price) in advance. There is also a good choice of evening meals at reasonable prices, with decent portions. It was nice to be offered the choice of a table in either the dining room or the public bar. The bar has a lively and sociable atmosphere with a good choice of drinks available, and it was nice to see that it is popular with local people, not just tourists. We found the Kinlochbervie Hotel to be a very good place from which to visit the peaceful local beaches such as Oldshoremore and Sandwood Bay, as well as scenic places on the north coast such as the spectacular Smoo Cave near Durness, Loch Eriboll and Loch Hope. The Kinlochbervie Hotel benefits from its homely offering, which we found preferable to some significantly more expensive but rather less convivial and less generous places on our holiday. Thank you very much for a very pleasant stay.

Very welcoming. Also clean, tidy and friendly atmosphere. We were able to chill out and relax in very picturesque surroundings. I would have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending this property to any traveller planning a visit to this superb area of the country without paying the earth for the privilege. The accommodation, dining and bar prices are are also very reasonable. Difficult to find fault with this hotel. Five star stuff as far as we're concwrned.

The room was lovely. Very spacious with glorious views. The bed was really comfortable. Staff were really friendly and helpful. The breakfast was so filling we didn't need any lunch at all.We were surprised at the huge choice for evening meals and commented on the very reasonable price of drinks. The only thing I'd say requires improvement is the slightly overdone venison burger, as it's a dry, lean meat.Overall it was a great stay and we hope to be back

Beautiful View and Kind Staff - Rating 5/5
This is my second time at kinlochbervie Hotel. As before I had an amazing time. The drive by Loch Inchard to the hotel is beautiful. My room has a lovely view and the staff were kind and most helpful. When my car was in the garage due to punctured tires the owner offered and took me to the garage to pick up my car. The nights are quiet and very peaceful. Definitely I'll return when in Scotland next time.

Friendly staff, great food but hotel needs some TLC. - Rating 3/5
We did pay extra for a king room and the bed was extremely comfortable but the hallway carpet badly needs replacing. We had fish & chips for dinner which was great value for money and served in the morning with a very generous breakfast portions. The tables were a little strange, we wereseated at the far ends of oblong oversized tables making it impossible to have a private conversation. We must say though that the staff were very helpful and friendly.

We really liked our large room with the 2 panoramic views. The breakfast choice was very good.I would have liked a blind on the bathroom window as it felt very exposed when the light was on.We did not like having to state where we had come from and where we were going. We thought it an intrusion and unnecessary.

I stayed for three nights in late May. Staff were welcoming and helpful, the hotel was comfortable and clean, and everything seemed well-organised, including having a table ready for me for dinner on the first night if I wanted it (which I did). I had two dinners and three breakfasts which were all very good - the haddock from the local harbour was so fresh I almost had to stop it swimming off the plate. Really nothing to criticise and it seemed reasonably good value too.

Hotel was fantastic, do not listen to the reviews on google! It is super easy to find, staff are the friendliest people the food is great breakfast & dinner. Bar area gives social club vibes and the decor is slightly old but nothing is missing, broken or mouldy. The social club vibe gives the hotel character! rooms are massive, shower was warm and the bed was comfy! Would highly recommend this as a stay for the views out the window alone. We also had our dog with us who was treated fantastically!

Stayed for one night. The staff were very friendly and the food on the evening and at breakfast was nice. The room was clean. We felt the decor to be in need of some TLC, it would benefit greatly from some new carpets and new paint on the walls. In relation to other places we stayed at during the trip, we found it to be on the more expensive side for what it was.

As others have noted, the hotel is in need of a total refresh. Relaxing stay - Rating 5/5
We stayed for a one night getaway . Though the hotel looks in need of a polish it is accrualy being refurbished slowly but surely but due to tradesman and delivery issues it’s taking longer than the owners would like , we liked to think of the decor as rustic . We were welcomed by staff and locals alike and had a very enjoyable stay. The view from our room was fantastic could have happily sat at it for the whole visit 😁. We had our supper in the hotel bar which was excellent very good portions I had the fish which was caught by the local fishermen . The sweet and sour chicken was equally good . If you want chrome and sparkle then it won’t be for you, but if you want to see one of the most beautiful parts of Scotland on your way there then you won’t be disappointed . Plenty of wildlife too . We are planing our return journey already

Great little hotel, really enjoyed our stay here. Place is large and was extremely windy the night we stayed..entry of parking outside with lovely views, room was large and spacious with everything needed.. the only thing I disliked was the bed mattress.. this is thin and I don't the night feeling every spring within, therefore an uncomfortable sleep was had.bar was put favourite, a stove heated large area. The food is what blew me away, fantastic portion sizes, well made and I think was the highlight of my trip after a 7 hour drive across the Highlands.Staff were super friendly and happy to welcome you and help.Would stay here again for sure, when it's not January and a bit busier.. I can Imagine the atmosphere here is great during busy periods.

The meal we had was delicious - after the staff apologised for not having fresh fish, they served us salmon (!) which was an absolute treat. My son had the best burger ever. His quote. We have stayed at this hotel a number of times and we were pleased to see that they have survived the difficulties of the last couple of seasons. The hotel has been improved with new decoration and necessary arrangements to comply with Covid safety. The food was good with a good variety and choices for gluten free, vegan and vegetarian diets. Service was good and cheerful with a great system for ordering breakfast the night before. The bedroom was comfortable and well supplied for the length of our stay. Rooms are not serviced due to Covid regulations, but provision for this was fine.Dogs are welcomed, but 3 barks and they are out! A good system! Thanks for our stay, it was just a pity that you were so busy we had to stay somewhere else for our first two nights away!

Very dated across entire hotel. Photos are misleading unfortunately. Ok stay overall but be aware. Shower didn't work properly. Door locks temperamental. Carpets looked quite dirty. Exterior look is rather tired with peeling paint
Response
We are doing work on the hotel and all the Photos are current so show the hotel as it is now. We are sorry you had a problem with your shower but we did offer to change your room. The locks on the doors are the type that you lock on the inside and walk out you can not lock the door from the outside, as it explains on your welcome sheet in your room. Again may a apologise for any inconvenience.

Clean and comfortable hotel with good amenities. Varied menu and wine list, and views from the restaurant over the loch were stunning.Staff were warm, friendly and very attentive.

Good food! - Rating 3/5
Nice seaview attic accomodation we had. But when it is obvious in the reservation we sent that we are 3 adults, we were rather given 2 bath towels and 2 hand towels, 2 coffee cups & saucers. WHY?My son ended up using the hand towels ?instead - he is 23 yrs old.
Response
We are sorry that your stay with us was not as enjoyable as it should have been. And that housekeeping had not set the room for 3 persons. But if you had asked at reception, we would have had a mug and towels taken up to your room. Also, may I just say that we do not have attic rooms in the hotel. Please accept our apology for your discomfort.

Stunning location - Vey friendly hotel - Rating 5/5
We've stayed at Kinlochbervie Hotel on a number of occasions - it's set in one of the more remote areas of the Highlands and a real favourite of ours. There may be more luxurious hotels, but the location and friendliness/helpfulness of the staff more than makes up for this.A real gem

Hope to see you again soon.

The perfect place to stay at a beauty spot - Rating 5/5
The hotel may look vintage but don’t be fooled, it is really the perfect place to stay. All the staff was extremely nice and helpful, the room was really big, everything was perfectly clean and tidy, the bathroom was huge, and we all had the perfect stay. The food is also very good, and the price... simply unbeatable. Kinlochbervie is such a beauty spot to stop for a couple of days, so it’s great that there is a hotel like this there.

Great stay with fabulous fresh fish dinner - Rating 4/5
We stayed one night in room 14 The bed was very comfortable with a sea view, the ensuite was clean andfacilities good. The decor in the hotel is a little tired but the welcome is warm and the local fresh fish we had for dinner was absolutely superb - the best dinner we had all week!
Response
Glad you enjoyed you meal the fish is fresh from the harbour.

Does what it says on the tin - Rating 4/5
This place is authentic, it won’t mess you about. No airs and graces about this hotel but 5 star service from some of the friendliest people you’ll meet this side of the Clyde.Doors and floors squeak but it adds to the appeal.Mega comfy beds and fantastic hot food.I’ll be returning as often as I can.
